The San Agustín Archaeological Park, located on the Department of Huila, is the only pLace in the world highlighted by 500 imposing stone statues carved in accordance to the mythology of their Indian sculptors
The culture that made these thousands of amazing statues disappeared and we don't know
why. There are some theories but nothing has been probed. San Agustín probably is a city for the dead, meaning a kind of huge cemetery for religious, military and political leaders. Many graves were found full of treasures and sadly some were stolen.
